Update and more photos

Yesterday was our last birthing class.  We really enjoyed going each week and we both feel better prepared as the due date gets closer.  We start breastfeeding classes in June.

Also yesterday, Charlie's co-workers threw us a baby shower.  Here are some pictures from that.

32 weeks!

Yesterday we hit 32 weeks!  Today I had a doctors appointment.  The appointment went well.  We listened to the heartbeat and the doctor determined the baby to be head down.  So far things are going well.  It's only a matter of weeks before we get to meet our baby.  Here are some belly pictures.

31 and a half weeks

Birthing classes have been going really well.  On Thursday we took a tour of the maternity ward, also known as The Baby Place.  We spent a lot of time looking at the all the different rooms like the labor and delivery rooms and the c-section room.  It makes me feel more at ease to see everything and not just talk about it.  Other than the tour of the Baby Place, we have had informative discussions, watched videos, got worksheet handouts, and did hands on activities during birthing classes.  Next week is our last week for the class.  In June, will start breastfeeding classes.

Since, the last time I updated I had one doctors appointment and everything is going well.  Everything went as usual.  The next appointment is this Wednesday.

Today my friends from college threw our little family a baby shower.  Here are some pictures.

Tuesday, I will put new belly pictures up and update on anything new. We are so excited that baby Blanchard will be arriving soon.

30 Weeks!

Tomorrow we hit 30 weeks.  Only 10 more weeks to go!  We're in the final stretch.  I am so sorry that it's been so long since we've updated, so to make it up to you guys Charlie and I have a lot to report on.

A few weeks ago and I had to go into the doctors office and get a glucose test for gestational diabetes.  I had to drink a sugary drink and then get blood drawn.  That test turned out fine.  We had a doctors appointment at 28 weeks and things are progressing very well.  The doctor measured me, listened to the baby's heartbeat and performed a normal check up .  Now, the doctors visits are becoming more frequent the next appointment is this week.

The next day after the doctors appointment and I had go to the hospital to get a Rhogam shot.  It was neat because I got the shot done in the Baby Place at the hospital, so I got to see what the maternity ward looked like and where Baby Blanchard will be born.

Last Thursday Charlie and I started birthing classes at the hospital.  The classes are weekly throughout May.  We both found the first class very helpful and we are looking forward to the rest of the sessions.

Again, I am sorry for not updating sooner.  Pictures will be up tomorrow.  We are very excited to have only 10 weeks left and we are excited to share all this with you.

25 weeks

We are now 25 weeks along.  25 down, and only 15 to go!  July will be here before we know it.  In the past few weeks we have bought our first family-friendly vehicle - a van.  A picture of the van will be up on this site tomorrow.  We also started to purchase some cloth diapers.  We have decided to go the cloth diapering route for many different reasons.

We had a doctor's appointment last Thursday and all is going well.  He basically did the usual check up.  He measured me and listened to the baby's heartbeat.  We are all doing really well (All 3 of us!). Charlie got to feel the baby move, although he has only felt the baby a few times.  We will continue to update and let you know what's going on.  We'll probably update more often since things seem to be progressing rather quickly.  Here are the latest belly pictures:

21 1/2 weeks

It's been a while since the last post.  As of March 1st I was 20 weeks which means halfway done!  Now that I am at 21 weeks I have 19 weeks to go!  July is going to come so fast.  We are so excited.  I had another doctors appointment last week.  Things are going very well. The baby's heartbeat was at 149.  The doctor measured me and answered any questions I had.    On Valentine's day I began to feel the baby moving!  Now everyday I feel baby moving.  What an amazing feeling.  I can't wait for Charlie to feel baby.  I am just starting to transition to maternity clothes, although most clothes still fit. These next few months are going to fly by!  Keep us in your prayers for things to continue to go smoothly.  Here are some recent belly pictures!

18 weeks!

Today was our ultrasound!  We got to see our baby up close!  The gender of our baby is going to be a surprise but it was so cool to see all the little hands and feet.  We actually saw our baby's heart and watched the heartbeat!  We also saw it's adorable little face.  Here are some belly shots and some ultrasound pictures!

16 1/2 weeks

Hey everyone!  It's been a few weeks since I last updated.  I had another doctor's appointment yesterday.  Nothing new, the doctor wanted to see my progress and see if I had any concerns.  I only asked a few questions and then he measured me and we listened to the heartbeat.  Baby's heartbeat is at 140.  Next week I need to go in a get the baby tested for Downs Syndrome, which is a normal test that everyone who is expecting takes.  In less than two weeks, Charlie and I go in for the ultrasound!  I am so excited to see our baby and I will put up pictures on this blog when I get them, which should be the day after the ultrasound.  Before we left we scheduled our next appointment in March.  At home I've been doing well.  The nausea is pretty much gone, but I am still tired a lot.  Here are some recent pictures:

14 weeks

Tomorrow I will be at 14 weeks.  This means I am in my second trimester!  I've read that the second trimester, for most women, is the most comfortable of the three.   Charlie and I had another doctor appointment this past Friday.  We didn't see my doctor, but we saw the nurse pracitioner.  All is going well.  I have gained about a pound and a half since we found out.  We heard the baby's heartbeat again (the heart beat was fluctuating  around 150) and the baby's heart beat kept getting louder and softer because the baby was moving around, which was really neat. She said the baby should be the size of a grapefruit.  My next appointment is Febuary 5th and my sonogram is Feb 18th! We are very excited about the sonogram.  Here are some belly shots:

We are Expecting!

On Saturday November 21st, 2009 I was beginning to wonder if I was pregnant.  Charlie and I decided to take a pregnancy test.  We took the home pregnancy test and it came up positive!  We had a doctor appointment on November 24, 2009 where it was confirmed and we found out the due date.  We are due July 20, 2010!  Here is the picture of the positive test.

Since then, we had another doctor appointment on December 23, 2009 and we heard the heartbeat!  That was a beautiful sound.  As of right now I am 12 weeks along and nearing the end of my first trimester.  I have quite a few symptoms including the nausea and sleepiness.   I've been constantly reading up on pregnancy and all the changes that will happen over the course of the pregnancy.  Here is a picture of me today, I am 12 weeks pregnant.

Also,  a few weeks ago, Charlie and I moved out of our room and moved into our big loft room. Our old room is now going to be the baby's room.  We painted the room a nice neautral color since the baby's gender will be a surprise to us!  We decided to do all this early because it was winter break and I'm still early enough on in the pregnancy to help out.

We are registered at Target and Buy Buy Baby.  The website it buybuybaby.com.  Our next doctor appointment is January 15, 2010.  Keep checking back on this site for more updates! We will update as much as we can!
